Trailers

So I'm going to mention a few movies that are on their way to cinemas soon that have caught my attention. I only have two movies to discuss but they do look quite amazing.

Movie #1 : Me and Earl and the Dying Girl

I'll be honest the trailer for this movie has made me cry. I have very high expectations and am so excited for it to be released. Watch the trailer first please...

 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BnLs49NL-c8

In my opinion some songs are only brought to my attention when they are in movie trailers, I usually appreciate them more. For example Milky Chance - Stolen Dance and Imagine Dragons - I Bet My Life, these songs I love but they sound even better hearing them in a trailer. We met Greg who is a not overly popular teenage boy, living below the radar. His mother breaks the news to him that a girl he knows, Rachel, has been diagnosed with Leukemia. Greg befriends her, at first to please his mom but realizes he enjoys Rachel's company.

Greg and Earl spend their time making movies together and realize the only thing they can do for Rachel is make a movie for her. The movie itself, appears to have a sense of humour while also being emotionally gripping. I am waaaaaay too exited for this movie. I believe it has already been released in America but is due for release in Ireland September 4th. YAS.

Movie #2: About Ray

I have no idea how I came across this movie trailer but oh well. So we have one of our first movies (or so I believe) exploring the difficulties of a female making the transition to a male. Once again watch the trailer people....

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4SkwJk9KB2c

Again I love the song used in this trailer, Shawn Mendes - Life of the Party. What caught my attention of this trailer is that it is not your stereotypical movie. Unlike rom-coms, (which I love don't get me wrong) you can't predict the ending of this movie so easily. It's not just the difficulties faced by a young person who is transgender, but also the difficulties of the people surrounding them who care and are trying to understand in order to help.

There is controversy over this movie due to Elle Fanning who is a cisgender actress, portraying the role of a transgender. I believe it shouldn't be an issue, isn't the acting world all about being given a role and slipping into that role? Acting allows actors/actresses to explore others worlds. Anyway I have a feeling this movie should be good and am once again excited for its release. The release date in America is September 18th.

That's all for now anyway, peaceeeeeeeeee x

#5 Trainwreck

I haven't talked about a movie in.. forever. But luckily I spontaneously went to the cinema last night with my sister. We went to see 'Trainwreck'.

Let's take a moment to appreciate my new icon, that is .. Amy Schumer. I first became aware of who Amy Schumer was when she purposely fell on the red carpet in front of Kanye West and Kim Kardashian, as you can see below..

Yea so clearly she has a sense of humour, which explains why she is a stand up comedian! Anyways so back to the movie! So Amy wrote this movie, impressive right? It's a rom-com so automatically I love it. At the beginning we are shown a younger Amy and her little sister Kim being taught by their not so loyal Dad, that monogamy isn't realistic.

We are shown present day Amy who is now a promiscuous magazine writer. She is given the task to write about a sports doctor Aaron Connors but accidentally falls in love with him. There is much laughter and also tears as she realises that maybe monogamy is realistic. Unfortunately I couldn't allow myself to cry because the cinema was BUZZING. So I had to detach myself from my emotions a little bit.

All I can say is I really can't wait and am hoping for many more movies from Amy in the future! Link to the trailer below. By the way, Lebron James is in the movie?? OMG.

Run Fast Bitch Run ii

Day 2: So day 2 did not go as well as the first day but I'm that does not mean I've lost my motivation! I'm not planning on running everyday because... I'm just too lazy for that! I did go for an extremely brief run (mainly walk) today with my friend, so that has to count for something right?

Day 3: .... I did not run

Day 4: I was ...working. I honestly was working for the day but I did walk to work so that has to count for something!

Day 5: I did not run again today. I went to a party, so to be honest the amount of dancing I did has to count for something.

Day 6: I was working today so ...

Day 7: Again, I was working today so no luck with exercise, I did walk to work though...

This week hasn't been that good for my exercise, if anything I feel FATTER. But I must remain positive. I'm getting away for the next week and so I am going to take full advantage of it along with my mother and get fit! Hopefully I'll have more than one line for my updates next week.

#4 Inside Out

Finally!

I've been waiting for this movie for months. I am sucker for cheesy trailers and the trailer for this movie is nice and cheesy in my opinion. I love the music chosen for it, I think it is so cute and sweet. Watch the trailer if you haven't already.

Basically the movie is set in the world of a young girls mind, Riley. The movie personifies five emotions, Joy (Amy Poehler), Sadness (Phyllis Smith), Fear (Bill Hader), Anger (Lewis Black), and Disgust (Mindy Kaling). We follow Riley's emotions as she deals with moving to a new city. Well yea I won't go into much more details because I am terrible at giving synopsis'. But as usual Pixar don't let us down. Top notch movie, so just go and watch.

LONGITUDE Part 1

SUMMER = FESTIVALS

I know summer doesn't equal to festivals but moving on to the point, so summer is the main season for festivals to be held, am I right? I hope so, ANYWAYS so for my 18th birthday this year, my group of friends (who are the sweeeetest) chipped in their money to get me gifts, put together in a hamper, one of those many gifts included a one day ticket to the Longitude festival in Dublin, this Summer 2015! Not bad eh? Yes I am vuuury lucky. So I am sad to say that I had never been to a festival before and to be honest, had zero notions of what to expect! So here is a look at the line up we had for the weekend..

I'm embarrassed to admit that, out of all the acts listed above I possibly only know/heard of 6 or 7 of them! The ticket my friends got me was for Saturday 18th July. Alt-J and Years & Years YAS. So you could say I was preeeeeetty excited. We booked ourselves into a hostel that we stayed in last year, when we went to see Macklemore and then we organized our buses. Most of our group went on the Friday, as well as the Saturday. I don't think I would've had the energy to last the three full days but next year I will make it happen!

#3 Bridesmaids

Okay so if you did not ever see or have heard of this movie, wow.. How did you manage that?! I literally have seen this movie DOZENS of times! Never fails to make me laugh and once again we have the fabulous Rose Byrne. She is brilliant at being an utter bitch while making you laugh. Kristen Wiig is an absolute bae. Being hilarious just comes naturally to her.

For those of you living under a rock, the movie more or less speaks for itself, it's about a wedding and particularly... The bridesmaids! It deals with friendships and the struggles and what not, while being hysterical. The whole cast in general are brilliant and on point.

SPOILER ALERT: it's a happy ending but what more can you expect with a comedy?! I love the humour throughout, so immature but what more could you want? WATCH IT.

Run Fat Bitch Run!

Hey guys!

So I've decided to start a little Run Fat Bitch Run sort of .. series? With it being summer and all training is over and I find myself sitting on the couch ALOT of the time! Although it is almost August already I really want to motivate myself to get running and exercising so that mentally and physically I'm in a good way going into my dreaded Leaving Cert. year. I believe if my mind is in a good place going back to school it will be easier to not crack under any pressure, hopefully anyway! A constant worry of mine is my image, which I know is an issue which the majority of girls, especially teenagers. But, as most you know already, exercising releases endorphins, long story short, basically the endorphins make you happier! So let's get running!

Day 1: For once I'm not just 'all talk', I've actually put my words into actions! Yesterday I pushed myself to get up and just go for it. So with my sister we got in our running gear and went to run this ring which is nearby my home. I believe it is 2 miles long, but I'll check that properly next time. Not surprisingly, my sister and I were not able to run the full 2 miles! I think we possibly ran a quarter of it at most! But I'm still motivated to keep going and increase the distance I run each time!

By the end of the summer I hope to be able to run the full ring and maybe even further. It may seem like a small challenge but I am incredibly lazy and enjoy taking the easier option ALL the time!

I've decided to download an app today so I can record my progress, EXCITING! Not really but anyways, the app I downloaded is Nike+ Running. There are plenty of running apps to choose I just picked this one. It appears this app seems to help you prepare for a race but I'll just pretend.

I'll post how I get on with the next few days at the end of the week!

PEPPERMAYO

Can we all take a moment to appreciate the wonderful Peppermayo that has been recently been introduced into my life?!
It is my new favourite clothing website to soak up on boring non eventful nights. It is based in Australia (a country I'm obsessed with, yet have never been to). Unfortunately my heart was broken earlier today while I was in the midst of loading my online shopping cart, it turns out us lovely Irish citizens that order from Peppermayo will be charged a customs charge. My friend recently ordered an outfit from the website and was charged an extra €28 customs charge, onto the standard €5 shipping charge. I don't know whether they will always charge you the customs charge. It is quite expensive! But it just gives me another reason to make a trip to Australia very soon ;)

On a brighter note, their style is quite unique and original. I've already done a post on my trip to Longitude, a festival hosted here in Ireland. And I admit I wish I had found the website before I went to the festival because they have some outifts that are perfect for the festival appearance. Above and below are just a few of many outfits I love from their website! Yes they are all the same style playsuit but I love how different the patterns are! So summery! And similar to Australia, I am obsessed with summer too.

I definitely will have to invest some money into a few new additions to my wardrobe soon before the summer ends! A link to the Peppermayo website is just below!

#2 Whiplash

Whiplash is my next movie!

So this time we have Miles Teller (Divergent, That Awkward Moment and The Spectacular Now) an ambitious jazz student and J.K. Simmons (Spider-man series) an abusive instructor. The movie explores the odd relationship formed between teacher and student. Andrew Neiman (Teller) intends to be the best drummer he can be. Fletcher (Simmons) pushes him to the extent of having a public meltdown and attacking Fletcher.

The two meet again in the future and end up working together, although it is actually Fletcher's attempt at sacrificing Andrew's. He constantly pushes Andrew in order to see has he got what it takes, which in the end we find out he has.

I must admit it wouldn't be my favourite because I have a slight preference for more light-hearted movies but I do love music based films. The jazz music throughout the movie is thoroughly enjoyable. *Cue JAZZ HANDS*

#1 I Give It a Year

First movie I'm going to talk about : I Give It a Year.

Written and directed by Dan Mazer. Yes, it is a rom-com. J'adore. Rose Byrne (best known for her roles in Bridesmaids, Bad Neighbours and Insidious) alongside Rafe Spall are a newly wed couple exploring their life being married. Simon Baker and Anna Faris also star in it, as somewhat sideline love interests of the young couple.

Unfortunately I looked this movie up on Wikipedia and found out the ending before the movie even started (which I won't share) but still enjoyable.

I can't deny I adore Rose Byrne, she is definitely one of my favourite actresses, she is hilarious and Australian (best!). I love the cast altogether, they work well together.

I really enjoyed witnessing the journey the couple take throughout the movie as they try to make their not so 'meant to be' marriage work. It's light-hearted, easy to watch and funny!

Movies Galore!

So it being the summer holidays and all, I'm going to take advantage of my free time and ... watch movies. I have a list of movies to watch that I want to tick off. I'm hoping to chat about the movies I watch so that I'm actually uploading posts on this.

I'm little bit of a movie fanatic. Rom-coms are my favourite, my guilty pleasure. I'm still a child at heart and adore the majority of animated movies.

I hope to upload a post about a movie at least once a week, we'll see how it goes. ;)
